Hazardous cupboard – how they are made.

Hazardous cupboards are made in a very similar way to Coshh cabinets. If you read our previous post, then you will have a pretty good idea of how they are made. In this blog we are going to talk about how we make our hazardous cupboards. They have a few steps and as we mentioned they are all UK manufactured. Nothing we sell here at hazardous cupboards.co.uk that is purchased in.

Let’s get into it. So as mentioned all our hazardous cupboards are manufactured here in the UK. The cupboards start out as a piece of sheet steel. This is also manufactured here in the UK but not by us. The first stage of the process is that they sheet steel is punched out using our punch presses. These are running 24/7 and are always working. This allows us to stock products as well as create bespoke products should our clients need them.

Once the sheet steel is punched and the holes for the shelves and rivets will go. If the cabinet is slightly smaller the carcass will be folded into one piece. If you order a slightly larger cabinet, then it will be constructed from 5 main parts. The two sides, the back, the top and bottom. This will be riveted together and will form a very strong bond between the parts. Once this is fixed, we weld in the integral sump. This means that any chemicals that are spilt can not be accessed and caused any damage. A vital part of the hazardous cupboard.

Next the cupboard passes through the powerplant. This is where the hazardous cupboard is painted. The paint in electrostatically charged and this is how it sticks to the carcass of the cupboard. It then passes through large ovens where the power is baked onto the steel.

Once the hazardous cupboard is painted yellow. The usual colour for them. It passes through to final assembly. This is where the doors are added, and the shelves are placed inside to allow the customer to determine the height of the shelves.
